Terms of Service

Last updated April 27, 2026

These terms govern your use of ignite.me and the films, apps, and services run by Ignite Channel Inc. (“Ignite”, “we”). They’re written to be readable, but they are the legal contract between you and us when you use the site, buy or rent a film, or donate.

1. Acceptance

By using the site or buying, renting, or donating, you agree to these terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you don’t agree, please don’t use the site.

You must be at least 18 years old (or the age of majority in your jurisdiction) to create an account or make a purchase.

2. Who we are

“Ignite” is Ignite Channel Inc., a California corporation that produces and distributes documentary films and related software. Our address is on file at the bottom of this page.

3. Your account

You can browse most of the site without an account. To buy or rent a film, save a profile, or get our newsletter, you create a free account using Google sign-in, an email + password, or a passwordless email link — all handled by Firebase Authentication.

You’re responsible for keeping your account credentials secure and for everything done from your account. Email info@ignitechannel.com if you suspect unauthorized access.

You can delete your account at any time from your profile page or by emailing the address above. See the Privacy Policy for what happens to your data on deletion.

4. Films you buy or rent

Buy

When you buy a film, you get permanent streaming access while the film remains available on the site. If we have to discontinue a title (rights expiry, etc.), we’ll notify you in advance.

Rent

When you rent a film, you get streaming access for the rental window shown at checkout (typically 48 hours, starting the moment checkout completes). When the window expires, the film returns to its locked state in your library and you can rent or buy again any time.

Refunds

Films are digital goods you can stream the moment checkout completes, so all sales are final. If a charge was made in error, or if a film is unwatchable due to a technical problem on our end, email info@ignitechannel.com within 7 days and we’ll work with you on a refund. A full refund automatically revokes your access to that film; a partial refund or goodwill credit does not.

Payments

Payments are processed by Stripe. We never see or store your card details. Prices are shown in U.S. dollars unless noted otherwise; you’re responsible for any applicable taxes.

5. Donations

Donations through our contribute page are processed by Stripe and recorded for our internal accounting. Donations are non-refundable except where required by law. Ignite Channel Inc. is a for-profit corporation, so your donation is not tax-deductible as a charitable contribution.

6. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • Copy, redistribute, or rebroadcast any video on the site, including via screen recording, ripping, or downloading other than as the player permits.
  • Reverse-engineer, scrape, or attempt to bypass paywalls, entitlement checks, or other protections.
  • Use the site to harass others, infringe anyone’s rights, or violate any law.
  • Share your account credentials or your purchased films’ access with other people.

7. Intellectual property

All films, apps, blog posts, code, and brand assets on the site are owned by Ignite Channel Inc. or its partners and are protected by copyright and trademark law. We grant you a limited, non-transferable, revocable license to stream films you’ve bought or rented and to read our publicly-posted content.

Open-source projects published from our open-source page are licensed under the terms shown in each project’s repository (typically MIT). Those licenses, not these terms, govern your use of those projects.

If you send us feedback or suggestions, we may use them without restriction or attribution. To report copyright infringement, email ip@ignitechannel.com with the information required by 17 U.S.C. § 512(c)(3).

8. Third-party services

The site uses these third-party services as part of its normal operation:

  • Stripe— processes payments and donations.
  • Firebase (Google) — authentication, profile data, and file storage.
  • Vimeo— hosts and streams films and trailers.
  • Google Analytics 4 — anonymous usage analytics, only with your consent (we show a cookie banner the first time you visit).
  • Vercel— hosting.

Their respective terms and privacy policies apply to your interaction with each service.

9. Disclaimer & limitation of liability

The site and films are provided “as is” and “as available.” We don’t guarantee that the site will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that any specific film will remain available. We disclaim all warranties to the maximum extent the law allows.

To the maximum extent the law allows, our total liability to you for any claim arising from the site is limited to the greater of $100 or the amount you paid Ignite in the previous twelve months.

10. Termination

You can stop using the site at any time. We can suspend or terminate your access if you breach these terms or use the site in a way that puts the service or other users at risk. Films you’ve already bought remain accessible unless the breach involved fraudulent payment.

11. Changes

We may update these terms from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top reflects the current version. Continued use of the site after a change means you accept the new terms.

12. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to its conflict-of-laws principles. Any dispute that can’t be resolved informally must be brought in the state or federal courts located in San Francisco County, California, and we both consent to jurisdiction there.

Under California Civil Code Section 1789.3, California users may also contact the Complaint Assistance Unit of the Division of Consumer Services of the California Department of Consumer Affairs in writing at 1625 N. Market Blvd., Suite N 112, Sacramento, CA 95834, or by phone at (800) 952-5210.
