Last updated April 27, 2026

This policy explains what data we collect when you use ignite.me, why we collect it, and what choices you have. We try to keep the data we collect to the minimum we need to run the site.

1. Summary

We collect three categories of information: account information when you sign up, commerce records when you buy, rent, or donate, and anonymous usage analytics if you accept our cookie banner. We don’t sell your data, and we never see your payment-card details — those go directly to Stripe.

2. What we collect

Account data

When you sign in with Google, with an email + password, or with a passwordless email link, Firebase Authentication creates an account for you. We store your email address, display name, profile photo URL (if any), authentication provider(s), and whether your email is verified.

Profile data

On your profile page, you can optionally add your first name, last name, organization, a short “about you” note, and an email-opt-in preference. These fields are visible only to the Ignite team.

Commerce records

When you buy or rent a film, we record the film, the type of access (buy or rent), the rental window if any, the amount paid, the currency, and the Stripe session and payment-intent IDs that link the purchase to its record at Stripe. When you donate, we record the same minus the film. We do notstore payment-card numbers, CVCs, or bank details — Stripe handles all of that.

Communications

If you email us, we keep your message and our reply for as long as we need them to support you and for our records.

Usage data

If you accept our cookie banner, we use Google Analytics 4 to understand how visitors use the site (page views, video plays, blog reads, outbound clicks). GA4 anonymizes IP addresses for us and we never link this analytics data back to your account.

3. How we use it

  • To run the site and deliver the films, content, and account features you’ve requested.
  • To send transactional email (sign-in confirmations, payment receipts, password resets, email-verification links).
  • To send you newsletters and announcements only ifyou’ve opted in. You can unsubscribe at any time from your profile page or via the link in any newsletter.
  • To improve the site based on aggregate usage analytics.
  • To detect fraud, abuse, or security incidents.
  • To comply with the law.

4. Cookies & analytics

We use a single first-party cookie (CookieConsent) to remember whether you accepted or declined analytics. If you accept, Google Analytics sets its own cookies to count returning visitors. If you decline, no analytics cookies are set and no events are sent.

You can change your choice at any time by clearing the CookieConsent cookie in your browser, which re-shows the banner on your next visit.

5. How we share it

We don’t sell or rent your data. We share with:

  • Stripe— to process payments and donations. Stripe collects your name, email, and billing details directly during checkout under its own privacy policy.
  • Google (Firebase + GA4) — for authentication, data storage, and (with your consent) analytics. Subject to Firebase’s privacy policy and Google’s privacy policy.
  • Vimeo— when you load a page that embeds a Vimeo player, Vimeo may set its own cookies. Subject to Vimeo’s privacy policy.
  • Vercel— our hosting provider. Vercel processes server logs as part of normal operation under its own policy.
  • Law enforcement— if compelled by a valid legal process, or if necessary to investigate fraud or protect the safety of users.

6. Data retention

Account and profile data is kept while your account is active and for up to 90 days after you delete it (so we can roll back accidental deletion). Commerce records and donation receipts are kept for 7 years to comply with U.S. tax and financial-records law. Server logs roll off after 30 days. Analytics data follows the retention configured on the GA4 property (currently 14 months).

7. Your rights & choices

Access and correction

You can view and edit your profile data at any time on your account page.

Marketing opt-out

Toggle the email-updates switch on your account page, or click “unsubscribe” in any marketing email. Transactional email (receipts, sign-in links, password resets) can’t be turned off while you have an active account.

Deletion

To delete your account and associated data, email info@ignitechannel.com from the email address on the account. We may keep commerce records for as long as required by law (see Retention above).

California residents

If you live in California, you have the right under the CCPA / CPRA to know what personal information we have about you, to request deletion, to correct inaccurate information, and to opt out of any “sale” or “sharing” of your information (which we don’t do). To exercise any of these rights, email us at the address above.

EU / UK residents

If you live in the EU or UK, you have rights under the GDPR / UK GDPR to access, correct, port, restrict, or delete your data, and to object to certain processing. Our legal bases are: contract performance (running your account, fulfilling purchases), legitimate interests (security, fraud prevention, basic analytics), and consent (marketing email, analytics cookies).

8. Security

We use HTTPS for all traffic, store passwords as salted hashes via Firebase Auth (we never see them), and limit access to production data to a single account. No system is ever 100% secure; if you suspect your account has been compromised, email us immediately.

9. Children

The site is not directed at children under 13, and we don’t knowingly collect data from anyone under 13. If you believe we’ve collected data from a child, email us and we’ll delete it.

10. International transfers

We’re based in the United States and our service providers (Stripe, Google, Vimeo, Vercel) operate worldwide. Using the site means your data may be transferred to and processed in the U.S. and other countries with different data-protection laws than your own.

11. Changes

We may update this policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top reflects the current version. If we make material changes, we’ll let active account holders know by email.
